A Patch for firmware 1.8 of the Sony PS3 is now available
As you may know Sony has released yesterday a new firmware update for the Playstation 3 which added support for UPnP AV / DLNA.
We are glad to announce that we already have a patch that takes advantage of this new functionality allowing playback of almost any audio and video files on the PS3, including Divx/Xvid and many other audio and video formats.
This patch also allows playback of some Internet radio/TV channels, albeit it is still somewhat limited in this area. A revised patch that can play all the channels TVersity can typically handle with other devices is coming soon.

To apply it please follow the steps below:
- Make sure you have TVersity version 0.9.10.2 installed, otherwise install it. Please note that this patch cannot be applied on top of older versions and is designed for 0.9.10.2 ONLY.
- Stop media sharing in TVersity (via the advanced menu or the tray icon)
- Unzip the patch file and copy its content over to the TVersity installation folder (by default it is \Program Files\TVersity\Media Server)
- Start sharing and try accessing your audio, video and photos from the PS3

Without the patch the server starts flawlessly. With the PS3 patch I get the following:

The TVersityMediaServer service is starting.

This patch doesn't work for me and more, the service doesn't work anymore !!!
Uninstall the software and reinstall it. Or apply for XBOX 360 patch and it will start working again. There's something wrong with the PS3 exe patch file.
Yup, just tried it. The patch did something where it wont load up saying "Unable to connect to server, Please make sure it is running." Then when i start it, it says its will be restarted, but nothing happens. :(

Mine is playing Avis, but Mpeg2 do not seem to work. Also my mpeg4s are showing up as not supported now.

Just tried with the V2 patch and the service crashes while running.
also install the patch for ps3. it turns off the program and crashes it. any more update?
OMG!!! THIS WORKS!!!! ITS SO SWEET!!! after trying orb, wmp, nero, this is the only thing that actually works perfectly with all my xvid files for my PS3. I can finally move my xbox to the bedroom.
is this the problem ?? I cannot add content located on network drives or I cannot play it on my target device and instead when I try to play something the device either gives an error message or just scrolls from one file to another without ever playing anything
The TVersity Media Server will not be able to access content on the network unless the Windows service that corresponds to it has a log-on account of an administrative user of your choice. By Default the TVersity Media Server is installed such that it uses the system account. This account is very limited when it comes to networking and therefore it is necessary to modify it to a different account that is not limited in that respect. You can use your own account or if you prefer you can set-up a separate account for the media server. Here are the steps involved in changing the log-on account on Windows XP/2K:
* Go to the Start menu / Settings / Control Panel. The control panel window should open.
* Double click the Administrative Tools icon. The administrative tools window should be displayed.
* Double click the Services icon from this window. The Services window should open.
* Locate the TVersityMediaServer in the list of service and double click on it. A properties window should open. Select the Log On tab at the top of the property window. The Log On options should be displayed.
* In this window, the Local System Account should appear as selected, and you should change it to This account. Enter your user name (or the user name of the account you wish the TVersity Media Server to use) in the text box next to the This Account label. Enter your password and confirm it and the click OK. This should close the properties window and the Services windows should now be visible again.
* In the service window, make sure the TVersityMediaServer is still selected and click the underlined Restart (or if not available click the Start) on the top left corner of this window. This should restart the server using the newly entered account. If no error occurs you have successfully completed the process.
* If some error occured please repeat the entire process and make sure you follow each step carefully.
* On Windows Vista, if file virtualization is turned off, you may need to change the value of the registry key HKLM->Software->TVersity->Media Server->HOME to the path of the user account assigned to the TVersity Media Service (for example: C:\users\thetversityuseraccount\Media Server)
I'm having trouble.Do I need to be online with my pS3 and my computer in order for this to work? I downloaded Tversity but when I search for media on My PS3 it keeps saying no server found. What am I doing wrong? Please help

I'm new to TVersity so I installed it brand new. Then put on the PS3 patch (luckily I got the 3rd version since I was late to the game). Everything works 100%! I can play all Xvid/DivX no problems. I don't use the PS3 web browser either, I just pick "Scan for media server" (new feature added with firmware 1.8) from the PS3 video menu (or music or photo) and it finds the TVersity server and away I go! The only problem so far is I can't FF or RW more than 1.5X (which is practically useless it's so slow). When I try to FF/RW at 10X it just freezes and after a few seconds keeps playing where it was. Otherwise, works a treat! I just dismantled my crappy PVR I was using. Kudos to both Sony and TVersity!
This works so well, thank you so much for this. I can not believe that other paid products like Nero do not do as good a job as this. All Sony needs to add is a way to tell it to go to a specific part in the video rather then fast forwarding and this would be a perfect match.
wow it works tried it this morning and bam up came the videos form my PC onto my tv. Thanks for the info on the admin tools thing that helped. O DivX works perfect :D and im using wireless and it has no lag issues only time i get lag is when play a hd video but just pause it for a while and resume it works great.

Firstly Hi,
I have applied the new patch and Tveristy works fine. The problem I have is that when I try and stream a movie to my PS3 after a while I get a message saying 'there was not enough memory and the screen will be replaced by a blank screen.'
Any ideas how to fix this?
I was using DLNA on my PS3 with cyberLink which worked fine but was only a 30 day trial, so I removed it an installed TVersity but my PS3 wont find the server now.

Im using the latest TVersity with No patches installed, just FFshow, it plays xvid for me but in full screen and looks extremely pixalated. Is there a setting to have the film played in its normal format instead of zoomed full screen.?

Hi, My TVersity service has suddenly stopped working - basically the PS3 can't find the media server even though it's running as usual. I've checked all my ports etc. (since installing new firewall software recently). If it is the PS3 firmware update causing the problem. How do I resolve this? I'm not very techy about this kinda stuff so detail would be much appreciated.
