A preview of the upcoming user interface

We are re-doing our user interface and wanted to share some screenshots and get some feedback early on.

Before I get to that, some of you may have noticed that we recently upgraded our icons. These icons were sent to us by Dylan Wreggelsworth, a graphic designer and the founder of Trifold Designs. He did it of his own initiative and it happened at a time where we were looking to get some professional design work put into our software and our website (yes, finally...). Naturally we got in touch with him and after a short discussion we knew he would be the right person for us. So before I show you the result of his work, I want to thank him for his wonderful design work.

And now here are the screenshots, your feedback is welcome:

That's a good looking interface ... Very user friendly from the shots there can't wait to see the finished product.

It's sharp and looks user friendly. If the feel is the same as the look, this will be one great product. I'm looking forward to see the update.

well... i like it. It's sharp and beautiful. I just think the two buttons on the top left corner (+ and refresh) doesn't fit well in the whole user interface.

Wow that looks hot .. now it's looking more like WMP but much snazzier!

Realy nice! Is it still Flash based?

At 7:35 PM, Blogger Ronen said...

Yes still flash based for now, this makes it multi platform which is even more important now that we are about to do our 1.0 release (with the new GUI) and then we hope to get to other operating systems besides Windows.

We have of-course an open API for building GUIs, that can be used to create native Windows GUI so if anyone is interested let me know and I can get the API published sooner rather than later.

A great concept. I would imagine it will also be XML skinable? And of course it will be used on a variety of mobile devices with various screen sizes as well. But wow! Cool! Add support for plain old text/html feeds, and then scroll one across the screen ~ a folder could have a feed associated with it ~ like Doctor Who folder having a fan feed, and a music group folder having a feed on tour information scrolling on it...

It looks really cool and well designed. I'll suggest you to add some automatic tagging and cataloguing functionalities or something easier to edit. Great product though, looking forward for the new release! Adriano.

Ronen - I'd be interested in helping when you start looking at the Linux port. Email me if you want to talk about it :)

Darren, please send us an email to info@tversity.com. We do not have access to your email address.

Looks cool, but I have a concern. Is my old CRT TV going to display the small typeface so that it is readable?

At 5:18 AM, Blogger Leo said...

If this works the way it looks, would be great.

And when the streaming of audio (PLS,ASX) works in this version, please hurry along with the release of 1.0

At 11:21 AM, Blogger Brian said...

Awesome. Simply awesome. I can hardly wait to get this.

At 5:38 PM, Blogger Anthony Nguyen said...

Looks awesome. However, if you look at the forums there's still rampant freezing, dropping problems on the PS3 interface, hopefully that'll be fixed by the next release!

Great looking UI. Much more web 2.0. Keep up the good work guys.

At 10:38 AM, Blogger Mr. Craig said...

Well, I love the way it looks, but I'm a bit worried. It's been well discussed how Vista Media Center won't allow a list view of video items, and those of us with many avi's or divx files have to wait forever for vista to render the thumbnails every time we access a folder. I've been using the Tversity plugin for VMC in order to list view my movies. This won't break that function will it? It's beautiful, but I hope that option is still there, because right now, this is the only way I know to see a list view of movies in media center.

At 11:44 AM, Blogger Chris said...

Looks wicked. hope it still continues to run perfectly too. Keep up the good work guys

At 9:12 AM, Blogger TAB Admin said...

Mr. Craig ... in vista goto control panel then Folder Options. Switch to the View tab, and at the very top you can turn off thumbnails. also there is also a list view available in explorer click the arrow on the view button and select list.

Cheers

I'd definitely be interested in a release of the API for the GUI, to develop a Qt-based native app frontend. Qt being multiplatform and available open-source, that would be make a perfect candidate, especially with the soon-to-be-released 4.4 version which includes a full-fledged xHTML browser and multimedia framework. Man, _that_ would be a rocking project :)

Even though in reading tversity web site they say they check in here and even reply to people. That is a blatant LIE. It's obvious they don't give a rats ass. Shame on them!
