New version is almost here

A few months ago we posted some screenshots of our new user interface. It has been awfully quiet ever since on our blog since we were hard at work implementing the new interface as well as many other improvements. This upcoming release is major for us, we will finally hit 1.0 and so we decided to give it an extra week or two if necessary and do it right. In the meantime, we wanted to give you a little something to look at, while we finalize our work.

So... we are happy to announce that one of the new features in our 1.0 release will be Blackberry support. We will support the 81xx, 83xx, 88xx models (also known as Pearl, Curve and World Edition) and we will require OS4.2 or higher (streaming requires OS 4.3 or higher). For video, models that support WiFi are naturally recommended (this is until a 3G model becomes available...).

To help you visualize it we have created a short video and uploaded it to YouTube. We do not know how many TVersity users own one of these Blackberry models, so please drop us a note and let us if this feature strikes a cord with you.

Always excited to see new things from this team. My home network wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable without TVersity.

Very nice ! Been waiting since the first post, but understand you want to get most bugs out before us users get the product...Thanks again.

No need to install anything, once we release the new version, you will simply need to point the web browser to the computer running TVersity and that is it.

make sure the new version supports windows XP service pack 3. since I installed it Tversity can't run properly as mediaserver.exe causes an eror and shuts down. Others have the same problem so its not just me... its a great software, i miss it !

The Blackberry support looks amazing!
I love the product and use it frequently on my XBOX 360. Just curious what the developers think of support for a device like this;

http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/13/sharp-rolls-out-46-52-inch-lcd-tvs-with-built-in-web-browser/

It's a television with a built in web-browser. I would imagine if the software support is there (flash etc.) this would be an ideal product for the Tversity software. Imagine a television where you can just plug in a power chord and a wireless bridge and watch anything you want, anywhere you want. Extremely convenient!

Keep up the amazing work!

Great to hear that the new version is almost comming! I love TVersity.

I hope you guys fix that it will now run under XP64. Now its not working at all, network load on all content is 0.7% (100Mbit) but on other DNLA clients it uses all the bandwith so it is Tversity thats having a problem with xp64.

Thnx again!

Blackberry Support!! You guys rock!!! I will love my 8320 that much more!
I second the notion regarding XP SP3. I have not upgraded to SP3 yet but would like to in the future and I NEED my TVersity to work or I will Cry like a little girl!!!

At 11:54 PM, Blogger Scott said...

I put SP3 on and Tversity did not work after until I turned off Windows Firewall--or later added exceptions to the media server and the used TCP 41952 (default). Now it's working like a charm again.

Great program...can't wait for the new version.

Any news on when this is due to be released? The blog made it sound like it was just a couple of weeks away and yet it's been over a month.

Not complaining, I'm just really looking forward to the new version and I check this site almost daily.

I don't own a blackberry, so therefore would like to see symbian 9.2 support myself :( However I do love Tversity, and have used it vurtially right from the start, been all through the teething problems, and now get to see it almost fully working and bug free :) Thanks everyone who has worked on the project. You have made the television so much easier to manage in and around my busy life :)

I have a curve and am anxiously awaiting this software too. I noticed in the demo vid that it was using wifi. Is streaming possible across the mobile network as well?

It is now June 29th...does that mean that 1.0 will be released tomorrow? There is only one day left in the month...anxious
